The usual thing you get to hear from your friends if they enquire about your studies if at all they enquire, the usual thing they ask is "how are your studies going?, do you have any arrears?"
Has anyone wondered why people use a different name when in college when one person fails to clear a particular paper. It is just a cover-up actually. The people grow up and the attitude also changes with them and the people want to make things sound a lot fancy.
In school, if you were unable to clear a particular exam, you will feel bad, i am not saying failure in college you might not feel bad, yes you will feel bad, you might not actually know how to react actually. In college you have a different set of people with you, and you might not be the only one who did not clear the particular paper and you are bound to have some company in the form of your friends, who will also feel bad but all this lasts for a day or two max and it gets back to normal in the due course of time.
Although this may not be true to some set of people who are in a category where they are in a competition and they want to excel in each and everything in life, people are bound to meet failure at some point in their life, sometimes it is because of their own acts and sometimes induced or caused by someone else.
It is just part and parcel of life and here i am not saying that you should not repent for the failure, yes it is a great feeling to have success all the time but at the same time a failure is not the end of the world. You have to get up and brush aside the failure but never forget about it, keep that in the back of your mind and try to get back where you really belong. Remember, if you are are worried about the campus placements and all those stuff, just remember no successful business man got to the place where he is without having a single hurdle in their life.
They will be more pleased to know that you never gave up and worked harder and went on to achieve your goal, everywhere the people who look for recruits look for the fighting spirit in a individual. Yes, i do agree that marks are also vital and you may also state that arrears could leave a black mark on your report and may not look so delightful. But remember no one is going to bother you with all that once you get yourself into a respectable position.
You might often listen some oldies say " in those times, we never used to keep arrears, we used to work really hard, this generation is totally different", well people who say that will keep saying that and you cannot change them. You don't know what it was like back then, and i for one do not want to know about it as well. We are in a totally different generation and the study techniques are totally different from theirs.
The funny part is when some oldies say "our schooling is way superior to your college", i agree with this one, not many colleges are so good at teaching, it is the self study that gets the students through to the next round and the oldies should stop saying such things because, the amount of books they carried when they studied is way way less than the book carried by the primary section.
So, all i am trying to say here is that, never get pulled down if you have any arrears, and remember to stay away from people who try to console you, they are the people who really pull you down even more actually, i know they might do that with the best intentions but that will only hurt you even more, just be jovial and keep the fire burning inside you.
